Environment Committee Discusses Waste Management Challenges and Sustainability Enhancement

Thursday 15 January 2026
The Environment and Circular Economy Committee held a meeting with officials from the National Center for Waste Management, during which a number of challenges facing investors in the sector were discussed. Key issues included licensing mechanisms, monitoring violations, and ways to improve communication and integration with the Center in order to develop effective solutions to these challenges.

The meeting also explored opportunities for joint cooperation between the two parties and the activation of initiatives and strategic plans. It featured a presentation of the Kingdom’s comprehensive strategic plan for waste management, in addition to the Center’s plan to develop the waste management system in the Riyadh Region and enhance environmental sustainability.

Furthermore, the meeting emphasized the importance of continued coordination and the organization of workshops to introduce the comprehensive strategic waste management plan, as well as the Chamber’s participation—represented by the Committee—in the International Trade Fair for Environmental Technologies (IFAT), in support of shared objectives.
