Researching the Rationalization of Water Consumption in Agriculture Sector with a delegation from World Bank

The Head of Agriculture and Nutrition Security Committee in Riyadh's Chamber Fahad AlHmmadi , searched with the delegation of world Bank delegation, which comprises Dr.Beckly Nigo Chief Specialist in water resources and Dr. Hizam Alotaibi ,Water Resources Specialist , methods of reducing the consumption of water in agricultural sector in Saudi Arabia . Also, discussed the ideal ways of agricultural operations which help to reduce the consumption of water i.e. by controlling machines and irrigation systems or planting crops which require less irrigation . Alhammadi asserted the importance of water and maintaining it . He also expressed the need for knowing the correct and accurate data regarding what is left of water . Also , the need for specifying population consumption and economic consumption including agricultural activities . He also clarified that agricultural sector in Saudi Arabia is considered one of the main water consumers and said: " The security of the Kingdom's water is extremely important but it shouldn’t be on the account of food security " . He also pointed out that agicultural sector consumes nearly 83% of the kingdom's water; he also explained that the agricultural sector fulfills the needs for crops which then limits inflation rates .
