The Forum Organizes the Third Discussion Session on the “Study of Traffic Congestion in Major Cities”

The Riyadh Economic Forum organized, on Sunday, May 3, 2026, the third discussion session to follow up on the study titled “The Impact of Traffic Congestion in Major Cities in the Kingdom: Causes and Solutions.” This comes as part of its preparations for the Forum’s twelfth edition, which is scheduled to be held next October in Riyadh under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy ​​Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz.

At the outset of the session, Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Anqari, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, delivered a welcoming speech, noting that the study is being conducted within a comprehensive scientific framework aimed at analyzing the causes of traffic congestion and reviewing best practices and international experiences. The objective is to develop a package of practical, implementable solutions that enhance the efficiency of the transport system and strengthen the competitiveness of Saudi cities.

He added that the session represents a valuable opportunity to deepen discussions on the study’s findings and monitor its progress, thereby enhancing the quality of its outputs through expert insights and contributions. These inputs enrich the analysis, broaden perspectives, and link findings to practical realities, ultimately increasing the reliability of the study’s results and recommendations.

The session was moderated by Dr. Ali Al-Ghamdi, session presenter, and Dr. Mohammed Al-Manaa, Head of the Scientific and Advisory Team. The session reviewed the outcomes of the previous two discussion sessions organized by the Forum, in addition to presenting a detailed overview covering the study’s general framework, analytical methodology, timeline, technical plan, and progress across its six main pillars.

The session witnessed the participation of a distinguished group of specialists and interested stakeholders. Their contributions and discussions focused on exchanging insights on the most effective scientific and practical approaches to addressing traffic challenges, with the aim of formulating strategic recommendations that enhance mobility efficiency and quality of life in the three cities covered by the study.​
